7 255 Thinking Musically in your consulting room: Clinical cases How to make use of Musical Imagination and Musical Mythopoetic Thinking in difficult analytic interactions. By limiting participants to a maximum of 12 candidates, this intimate atmosphere allows for a supervision-style learning format where we will together work with each participant's individual case examples, focusing specifically on how to achieve analytic goals through musical processes. In this experiential seminar participants will learn how to ethically and effectively access unconscious content through listening, playing, improvising, composing and imagining music. This seminar is considered an extension of Kroeker's other course entitled 'Jungian Music Psychotherapy: When Psyche Sings,' but in this case, instead of focusing on theory, this seminar focuses entirely on the case studies and analytic anecdotes brought in by the participants themselves. No musical experience is necessary to participate in this seminar. 2026-10-23 2026-10-23 PP1, PP2, PP5 12 4 training and diploma candidates Joel Kroeker, MMT, MA, DIPLOMA CGJI online, Zoom 1 2026-10-23 15:30 - 18:45 EN

9 257 The Myth of Myrrha The family triangle according to Jung. In this story we explore a daughter's incest with her father as a metaphor (Jung) and not as actual incest (Freud). The myth leads us to ponder the role that the parents' marriage and Myrrha's relationship with her mother plays in this tragic account of arrested development. We look at similar family dynamics in a client case and attempt to understand what therapy can offer. 2026-10-26 2026-10-26 AP4, AP5 20 4 students Diana Oxley, Ph.D. online, Zoom 1 2026-10-26 15:30 - 18:45 EN

19 267a Decolonising Psychoanalysis: Race, Culture, & the Clinical Encounter Premising on the historical entanglements of psychoanalysis and colonialism this class will attempt to unravel the dangerous limits of the so-called 'race-neutral approach.' We will critically examine the colonial history and Eurocentric assumptions embedded in psychoanalysis and explore ways to reorient contemporary theory and practice. Drawing on postcolonial and decolonial thinkers such as Frantz Fanon, Homi Bhabha, and Achille Mbembe, the class will explore how racialised histories and power structures shape collective psychic life and the clinical encounter. We will interrogate the 'myth of universality' in psychoanalysis, explore racialised transference and countertransference, and consider how multilingualism, 'cultural concepts of distress' (DSM-5), and intersectional oppression manifest in the consulting room. Participants will leave with conceptual tools and reflective practices for decolonising psychoanalytic work, fostering epistemic humility, and recognising the inseparability not only of individual and collective unconscious, but also of psychoanalysis and politics. 2026-10-30 2026-10-30 AP1, E1, E2, E4, PP1, PP2 40 4 students Gabriella Calchi Novati, PhD, Psychoanalyst IAAP-CGJIZ online, Zoom 2 2026-10-30 09:35 - 12:50 EN

28 275 The Maternal Archetype: A Clinical and Imaginal Deepening Following the lecture on the maternal archetype, this seminar offers an analytic deepening. Drawing on the dialogue between Jung and Kristeva, we turn to a close reading of Stabat Mater and to the clinical life of maternal imagery within the analytic field. Here, the work becomes slower and more intimate. Participants will engage selected passages from Stabat Mater, tracing the tensions between archetypal image, lived body, and symbolic structure. Discussion will remain firmly clinical: how maternal configurations appear in transference, regression, dependency, and separation, and how they constellate in countertransference. The seminar is both theoretical and practical. It includes: • Close textual analysis • Clinically grounded discussion • Guided Jungian active imagination • Structured drawing exercises exploring inner maternal images Imaginal and visual work function as analytic tools, allowing trainees to encounter how the maternal lives within their own psychic organization and analytic stance. This seminar offers a rigorous yet experiential space to integrate theory, symbol, and practice, deepening analytic sensitivity to one of the most powerful archetypal forces shaping subjectivity and the analytic relationship. 2026-11-04 2026-11-04 AP6, AP8, AP9, PP1, PP2, PS1 12 6 training and diploma candidates Gabriella Calchi Novati, PhD; Psychoanalyst IAAP-CGJIZ TBW 1 + 2 2026-11-04 14:05 - 19:35 EN

31 278 After the Confusion of Tongues: Trauma, Symbolization, and the Analyst's Position A Clinical and Cultural Seminar on Ferenczi, Freud, and Jung. Building on the lecture Child Trauma and the Confusion of Tongues, this advanced seminar deepens our exploration of trauma as a collapse between the child's language of tenderness and the adult's language of passion, power, or intrusion. Working with both children and adults, the seminar functions as a clinical laboratory. Participants are invited to bring dreams, drawings, and case vignettes, with attention to dissociation, identification with the aggressor, premature maturity, and countertransference states of confusion or over-interpretation. We will also read together the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood as a symbolic staging of the 'confusion of tongues': the child speaks in innocence and relational trust; the wolf responds from appetite masked as kinship. Here the collapse of generational difference turns into psychic catastrophe. Core questions that we will be working through during the seminar include: - How does trauma alter the child's relation to language and desire? - How does the adult patient carry the 'untranslated child' within? - When does interpretation restore meaning, and when does it repeat intrusion? This seminar aims at cultivating an analytic position capable of holding confusion without foreclosing speech, allowing symbolization to emerge where tenderness was once betrayed. 2026-11-05 2026-11-05 KJP1, KJP2, KJP8, PS2 12 6 training and diploma candidates Gabriella Calchi Novati, PhD; Psychoanalyst IAAP-CGJIZ TBW 2 2026-11-05 14:05 - 19:35 EN

34 500 Child & Adolescent Psychoanalysis: The Unconscious in Formation This ongoing online seminar offers an advanced, text-based study of the theory and clinical practice of child and adolescent psychoanalysis. Through close engagement with foundational primary texts, the course traces the conceptual and clinical evolution of the analytic understanding of childhood from Sigmund Freud to C.G. Jung, Anna Freud, Melanie Klein, Donald Woods Winnicott, François Dolto, Maud Mannoni, and Jacques Lacan. The seminar does not aim at theoretical synthesis, but at rigorous differentiation. Participants are invited to examine how each analytic tradition conceptualizes the child's symptom, the emergence of subjectivity, the role of parental desire, and the analyst's position in the treatment of minors. Particular attention is given to the clinical function of play, fantasy, drawing, silence, and language, as well as to the structural and developmental tensions that shape analytic work with children and adolescents. Each session is divided into two parts: 1) A systematic exposition of the featured analyst's theoretical framework. 2) Close reading and discussion of assigned texts and case material, with space for participant clinical reflection. The seminar is designed for training and diploma candidates seeking sustained engagement with primary sources and clinical application. Seminar Sessions' Outline 1. Freud: Infantile Sexuality and the Origins of Symptom Formation The discovery of the unconscious in childhood and the structural role of repression, fantasy, and neurosis. 2. Jung: Symbol Formation and the Developing Psyche Archetype, imagination, symbolic life in the child, and early psychic organization. 3. Anna Freud: Ego Development and Defence Developmental lines, defence mechanisms, and the technical modifications required in child treatment. 4. Melanie Klein: Early Object Relations Phantasy, splitting, projection, and the depressive position; play as analytic method. 5. Winnicott: Transitional Space and the Capacity to Play The holding environment, true and false self, and the clinical significance of play and creativity. 6. Dolto: The Speaking Subject of the Child The child as a subject of language; the structuring function of speech and parental address. 7. Mannoni: The Institutional and Familial Field The child's symptom within parental and institutional structures. 8. Lacan: The Child in the Symbolic Order The mirror stage, the Name-of-the-Father, and the structural position of the child within language and desire. This seminar cultivates theoretical precision, comparative analytic literacy, and clinically grounded reflection. It offers participants the opportunity to refine their analytic position while engaging foundational psychoanalytic texts in depth. 40 204 Lecture: The Self Predators - envy and hatred Analysis, society, and fairytales. Jung said, 'I cannot love anyone if I hate myself'. Envy and hatred are linked to early narcissistic wounds obstructing love to self and others. The feeling of inferiority ignites the urge to destroy the envied in their dignity and identity. The envious person is run by fears of annihilation, emptied within, regarding themselves as insufficient, and living in the shadows. The question is how this becomes conscious, understood, and the destructive energy transformed into growth. 2026-10-19 2026-10-19 AP4, AP5, PP2, PS1 100 2 students Susan Schwartz, PhD online, Zoom 2 2026-10-19 17:15 - 18:45 EN
41 205 Lecture: Trauma of Imposed Civilization: Collective Trauma among Indigenous Communities Worldwide. This work interrogates the concept of 'civilization' as historically constructed and imposed upon Indigenous societies, and examines the enduring psychological, cultural, and collective consequences of such impositions. It advances the argument that what has often been framed as the 'civilizing mission' was in reality a systematic process of cultural disruption, domination, and erasure, producing deep-seated historical and transgenerational trauma that continues to manifest in contemporary Indigenous communities worldwide. Drawing from cross-cultural case studies, theoretical insights, and psychological frameworks-particularly Jungian perspectives-the work situates Indigenous experiences within a broader discourse on collective trauma, identity fragmentation, and the urgent need for decolonized approaches to mental health and social reconstruction. 2026-10-20 2026-10-20 E2, E4, PP2 100 4 students Stephen Asatsa, PhD online, Zoom 1 2026-10-20 09:35 - 12:50 EN

44 208 Lecture: Never Not Broken Alchemical Transformation of the Animal Body in Trauma Resolution. In trauma, primal instincts to survive collide with powerful archetypal experiences, setting off seemingly endless cycles of pain. Alchemy illustrates transformation, emphasizing integration of matter and spirit to bring wholeness. A series of archetypal images will be explored, illuminating transformations in the nervous system, heart work of relational trauma, and significant shifts in thought and spirit. 2026-10-20 2026-10-20 PP1, PP2, PS1, PS2 100 2 students Lindsey Geiger, MA online, Zoom 2 2026-10-20 17:15 - 18:45 EN
45 209 Lecture: The King of the End of the World Shakespeare's Henriad and the Archetypes of King and Apocalypse The King archetype, despite being referenced often in myth and fairytale alike, may not have been understood in a long time, and perhaps this is why the world's 'Kings' seem to be as prominent as ever. In Shakespeare's Henriad, we may recognize our own world in the way that political and ideological stability seem to have been undermined, perhaps permanently. This presentation will make these critically important Shakespearean dramas accessible to those unfamiliar with Shakespeare, exploring them from a Jungian perspective, with careful attention paid to the unmatched power of Shakespeare's language. 2026-10-21 2026-10-21 AP1, E2, E4 100 4 students Joel Crichton, dipl. 46 210a Lecture: General Aspects of Dream Psychology / The Nature of Dreams This lecture introduces Jung's approach to dreams as presented in 'General Aspects of Dream Psychology' and 'The Nature of Dreams.' Dreams are understood as meaningful expressions of the unconscious psyche. Jung conceives dreams as symbolic, compensatory, and prospective processes that complement the conscious attitude of the dreamer. The lecture explores the structure of dreams, their use of symbolic imagery, and the principles guiding their interpretation, with particular attention to the personal and archetypal dimensions of dream symbols. Through this perspective, dreams emerge as essential tools for psychological self-regulation and insight. 2026-10-22 2026-10-22 AP2 100 4 students Stefano Carpani, PhD, MPhil, M.A. online, Zoom 1 2026-10-22 09:35 - 12:50 EN

48 211a Lecture: Addiction in the Digital Realm In this lecture we take a look at digital non-substance dependencies. We ask how they manifest and what it implies for treatment. We're approaching the topic of digital, non-substance addictions from the point of the analytic social psychology of Erich Fromm. 54 214 Lecture: Shadow and Psyche, Personal and Collective, Analysis and Society Our minds contain a vast universe of nuances and secrets to be unraveled. Yet, we are limited by the decay from self-deception laying in the shadow of the unconscious and taking us off our path. It is both obvious and invisible, personal and collective. The draw to self-deception distorts reality, lies and exploits. Reality of the psyche is refused, self-hate reigns in the web of internal saboteurs and their numerous forms. From James Hillman on betrayal to Francesco Bisagni's concept of the fascist state of mind are the perspectives of Julia Kristeva, Lacanian psychoanalyst on the abject and desire, Donald Winnicott, British psychoanalyst on the false self and Andre Green, French psychoanalyst on the dead parental complex and death narcissism. 56 216a Lecture: One Battle After Another: Weak Masculinity & the Collective Unconscious What becomes of masculinity when its myth no longer sustains psychic coherence? Cantered on the critically acclaimed film One Battle After Another (2025), directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, this lecture approaches the film as a cultural dream, as an expression of the collective unconscious in the Jungian sense. Widely recognized during awards season and praised for its tonal complexity, psychological nuance, and subversion of the action-hero genre, the film's critical acclaim signals more than aesthetic success. It suggests that its central image - the faltering, conflicted, battle-worn man - resonates deeply within the contemporary psyche. Rather than reading the protagonist merely as an anti-hero, we will understand him archetypally. Through a Jungian lens, we will explore: 1. The erosion of the Warrior archetype in late modernity 2. The difference between Prince and King archetype 3. Weak masculinity as symbolic depletion rather than moral deficiency 4. Repetition of external battles as avoidance of inner initiation(s) 5. Cinema as projection screen of collective shadow material If it is true that cinema carries the dreams of a culture, One Battle After Another may be articulating a collective crisis. Viewing of the film in advance is strongly recommended, as the lecture will engage specific scenes and symbolic dynamics in depth 2026-10-27 2026-10-27 AP1, E2, E3, E4 100 4 students Gabriella Calchi Novati, PhD; Psychoanalyst IAAP-CGJIZ online, Zoom 1 2026-10-27 09:35 - 12:50 EN

60 218 Lecture: From Universal to Latin American Creativity Artistic Strokes as a Source of Connection with the Unknowable. A Jungian Approach. This proposal explores creativity from a Jungian perspective through a dialogue between Universal and Latin American art. Works by European artists such as Goya and Bosch, alongside South American artists Guayasamín, Botero, and Mideros, are examined as expressions of Psychological and Visionary creativity. These images reveal luminous and shadowed aspects of the psyche shaped by Cultural Complexes, psychosocial realities, and expressions of the Self. In this way, creativity is understood as a compensatory psychic impulse that generates living symbols, enabling dialogue between consciousness and the unconscious in critical regional and collective contexts. 2026-10-29 2026-10-29 AP1, AP6 100 2 students Danny Solis, Clinical Psychologist / Bachelor in Plastic Arts / Master in Jungian Analytical Psychotherapy online, Zoom 2 2026-10-29 15:30 - 17:00 EN

64 222 Lecture: The Devouring and the Divine: Refiguring the (M)other in Psychoanalysis What if the most radical figure in Western culture is not the rebel, the warrior, or the king, but the (M)other? From C.G. Jung's archetypal matrix to Julia Kristeva's Stabat Mater, this lecture confronts the most sanctified and controlled body in patriarchal civilization: the maternal body. For Jung, the Mother is psychic ground: nourishing and devouring, protective and engulfing. Cultures both long for and fear her power. Patriarchy manages this ambivalence by splitting her: Madonna or monster, pure ideal or excessive body. Revered in symbol. Regulated in reality. Kristeva fractures that illusion. In Stabat Mater, she exposes motherhood as lived, bodily, disruptive. The maternal is not an icon: it unsettles language, identity, and the symbolic order itself. And this is why it remains political. Wombs are legislated. Care is devalued. Female bodies are moralized and monitored. To control the maternal is to control psychic life at its origin. This lecture explores: • The Mother as archetypal foundation of subjectivity • The cultural split between idealization and abjection • The maternal as a force that destabilizes symbolic authority • The maternal is not sentimental. It is a threshold where life begins, where identity forms, where power trembles. 2026-11-03 2026-11-03 AP1, PP1, PP2, PS1 100 4 students Gabriella Calchi Novati, PhD; Psychoanalyst IAAP-CGJIZ Festsaal 2026-11-03 09:35 - 12:50 EN

69 227 Lecture: Child Trauma and the Confusion of Tongues: Ferenczi in Dialogue with Freud and Jung What happens when a child's language of tenderness is answered with the adult's language of passion? In his ground-breaking 1932 paper, 'Confusion of Tongues Between the Adults and the Child,' Sándor Ferenczi described trauma not simply as sexual violation, but as a catastrophic misattunement between psychic worlds. The child speaks in the idiom of dependency, play, and tenderness; the adult responds from the register of desire, power, and passion. Trauma emerges not only from the act itself, but from the collapse of meaning: from a forced translation that the child cannot metabolize. This lecture explores Ferenczi's radical rethinking of trauma and situates it within a dialogue with Sigmund Freud and C.G. Jung. We will examine: 1. Trauma as a breakdown of symbolic translation 2. The child's premature assumption of guilt 3. Dissociation and fragmentation of the ego 4. The analyst's countertransference and the ethics of witnessing 5. Distinct from the physical body ('Körper'), the lived body constitutes a relational sphere of interpersonal and collective connectedness that can transcend ordinary experiential boundaries, as reflected in synchronistic and exceptional experiences. 2026-11-06 2026-11-06 AP1, PP1, PP2, PS1 100 4 students Wolfgang Fach, Dr. phil., Dipl.-Psych., Psychologischer Psychotherapeut Festsaal 2026-11-06 14:05 - 17:20 EN
73 231 Lecture: The Sign of the Times according to Jung The modern term 'The Age of Aquarius' was coined by Carl Jung. He expanded on the idea of aeons in his major work Aion and hinted at it already in The Red Book. The Age of Aquarius may very well be upon us. AI, online fora for likeminded people, social unrest, challenging existing symbols of authority are all examples of how this age can be described. The romantic idea 'make love, not war' associated with the Age of Aquarius and rooted in the 1960's flower power movement was always näive at best.
